Hey everyone,
Fr. Michael Vinson here, writing at the end of my trip to England and Scotland. Last week, delegates from across Europe and North America gathered in York for the REC100 Europe Church Planting & Parish Revitalization Conference. Participants traveled from Croatia, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States, coming together in a spirit of prayer, fellowship, and shared mission.
I thought I’d share a particularly insightful lecture by Prof. Stefan Paas, who examined the nature of modern Europe through the lenses of post-Christendom, post-Christianity, and post-modernity. His thought-provoking talk explored the challenges and opportunities these contexts present for evangelism today. I highly recommend his latest book in English, Pilgrims and Priests: Christian Mission in a Post-Christian Society. I hope you find Stefan’s talk at this year’s REC100 Europe Church Planting Intensive to be enriching.
The conference began with Morning Prayer, followed by delegates engaging in high-level discussions on evangelism, sustainability, ecology, and Christian leadership. These topics continued to influence the week, which included a variety of academic, spiritual, and practical activities.
